Sales Manager

£55,000 - £60,000 Basic Salary + Commission + Benefits

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious technology sales manager to join a leading software, data, and insights business – based in Brentford, West London. In a newly created role, you will lead a team of currently x5 people, shaping the team’s strategy as well as remaining client-facing and driving business growth.

Headquartered in London, our client is a £100m business, and is a leading data solutions business working with customers across the globe. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Data and Logistics Solutions Group, a business unit made of up circa 35 high-calibre individuals.

Among the product suite is a leading, map-based optimisation brand, a vehicle routing, scheduling and optimisation solution, and a supply-chain planning tool. Our client has a have a full in-house development team together with trainers, consultants and sales specialists to help customers get full value from solutions.

Key responsibilities

You will head up the logistics sales team (currently 5 people) and be tasked with ensuring that the team hits targets, and will be expected to contribute to this by generating sales yourself. The majority of the team will be focussed on generating new business, working closely with a dedicated account management function, too.

The ‘management’ element of the role will involve taking full responsibility for the team, in terms of the people management, the sales activity and the results. This will include forecasting, setting targets, recruitment, onboarding, appraisals, coaching, people management, input on the strategy and product roadmap. You will receive assistance in many of these areas until you are fully up to speed.

On the sales side, you will take pleasure in knocking down doors to generate an interest in what our client does and following through to close deals. You and your team will primarily be expected to generate your own leads, although you will receive some from marketing activities.

You will create and execute a credible sales plan for both yourself and your team.

You will need to travel to meet clients when appropriate and be able to commute to our client’s offices in Brentford, West London. As a team our target geographical markets are the UK and Ireland, North America and Australasia.

This is a highly consultative sale, which will involve developing an expert understanding of the products, the industries our client work in and how they solve problems for their clients. For the right opportunities, our client offers a clear and demonstrable return on investment.

You will work with pre-sales / consultancy team, the software development team and the marketing team. You will also develop relationships with partner organisations to help structure sales.

You will need to apply your energy and enthusiasm to a wide range of business scenarios and be comfortable when communicating with customers at every level from software users and IT staff, through to business owners and C-level directors.
